From Friday August 19 to Sunday August 21 this year, the Lapeer Days Festival, which started in 1902, celebrated its 120th anniversary. Lapeer Days is always free to attend, though some activities at the event may cost money. This year people were able to take photos with Sparky the Fire Dog, the official mascot of the National Fire Protection Association, go on helicopter rides for $40 a person, pay $25 to enjoy the Skerbeck Family Carnival the whole day, or ride one of Tina’s Party Ponies.

Each year there is a Lapeer Days Parade. This year it was on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and was followed by the Miss Lapeer Days Pageant. The pageant had four age categories for girls ages 3-18. On Sunday, Lapeer Days hosted the 36th Annual John Monteleone Memorial Classic Car Show, and ended with the Talent Showcase Finals from 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Remember to watch for the free festival when it returns next summer.
