Bay City’s Michigan Cream & Sugar Expands with Grant for Ice Cream Production

Bay City sees a sweet victory as Michigan Cream & Sugar Ice Cream Company secures a significant grant from the Dairy Business Innovation Alliance (DBIA) to bolster its ice cream production capabilities. The grant, part of a $3.3 million initiative spread across 37 recipients, will facilitate the company’s expansion into a new facility, aimed at meeting growing demand for its delectable treats.

The DBIA, a collaborative effort between the Wisconsin Cheese Makers Association and the Center for Dairy Research, supported by the Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (MDARD), aims to foster innovation and resilience in the dairy industry. These grants, which can reach up to $100,000 per recipient, are designed to empower small to medium-sized dairy businesses like Michigan Cream & Sugar to diversify their offerings and enhance their market presence. This investment not only strengthens local businesses but also underscores Bay City’s role in advancing innovation statewide.
