The Bureau of Labor Statistics released a report on Tuesday, January 24 with preliminary unemployment and jobs data from December. According to the report, the national unemployment rate dropped to 3.5 percent in December, down 0.1 percent from the previous month.
In December, the Michigan unemployment rate stayed steady at 4.3 percent, the same rate as November. Additionally, the state added 2,200 new nonfarm jobs with some of the largest increases coming from the construction, trade, professional, and education and health sectors.
